For those who haven't visited yet, Clippenham Camping is situated on the family run Clippenham Farm, located on the weald. There are several pitches available in the fields and a couple of pitches in Clippenham Wood. Clippenham stream can be located at the bottom of the farm. Camping at CLIPPENHAM is about getting back to nature and enjoying camping the old way. There are no Caravans or electrical hookups, just the basics needed to make it a real break from the technocrazy world we live in. You make your own space, light your own fire, build your own shelters and give your kids the chance to explore and experience the sights of the various wildlife, which includes deer, rabbits, pheasants, badgers, barn owls and herons. Hear the nightingales and gaze at the stars. We have pitches in the woods or on the fields. There is plenty of space and it's up to you how far you want to go. If you walk a little further you get to find your own special space.
Our policy is to charge by the person per night. Given the variety of tents that people turn up with and the fact that our pitches are not exactly defined, it is much fairer than charging for pitches. We will do our best to accommodate big groups and every ones various configurations; Gazebo's, VW Camper Vans and specific areas etc. But at the end of the day we just charge by the person. So if you are over 3, a charge will be incurred. I am also insisting that for Bank Holiday Weekends bookings will only be taken for all 3 nights.
Adults £10.00 per night and children over three years £5.00 per night.
There are no other charges, but you may wish to purchase wood.
Payment net of the deposit (if any paid) is by cash on arrival. Please make sure you check in when you arrive.
Sadly we cannot accept bookings from groups where the average age is under 21. Sorry!
It is essential to book for both Friday and Saturday nights on a weekend (2 nights) Bank holidays have a minimum of 3 nights booking.
Pre erected and ready for your arrival, futons and mattresses for up to 4 - £80 per night per Bell Tent (Minumum stay 2 nights). We have two Bell Tents which share a kitchen, dinning table, toilets and campfire for eight people.
Bell Tent Bookings
Weekend bookings tent's are available from 4pm Friday and should be vacated by 12.00pm Sunday. Week bookings tent's are available from 11am Monday and should be vacated by 11am Friday. If your tent is left in an untidy or damaged condition cleaning and repairs are chargable.

In addition, for our guests staying in the bell tents, a returnable breakages deposit is required of £50 per tent.
Deposits are to be paid by cheque made payable to N Layberry and sent to Clippenham Farm, Cowbeech, Hailsham, East Sussex BN27 4JJ
Here at Clippenham we allow campfires in the designated fire pits. Not only do campfires provide warmth and a focal point for any group or family, but loads of food can be cooked over or in them.
This is why we encourage you to have fires, however it means that you have to respect the dangers associated with having them.
Here is a quick guide:
- Use the fire pits provided
- At least 3 meters from any tent
- Do not collect any wood yourselves!
LOGS for camp fire available at £5 per basket load
If bringing your own wood it is crucial that there are no nails.
Campers feet do not go well with nails nor do car tyres. Also
no paint or varnish or any other chemicals that will pollute.
The wood that we sell to you here at Clippenham is sourced from our own wood at Clippenham, all of which are eco friendly and good quality.
What you can do - Cook Stuff!
- Wrap jacket potatoes in foil and put on edge of fire to cook. (Bring butter and salt)
- Popcorn - Make a large bag out of tinfoil and place 50g of popping corn with oil inside. Seal bag leaving lots of space and place on embers. Once popping, turn and shake, then add butter and salt and pretend your at the movies.
- The hardest recipe of all - Marshmallows - only for the most skilled of chef's.
LOVE THE FARM, LEAVE NO TRACE.
Please take all your rubbish home with you and recycle what you can.
We do not allow any fireworks or paper lanterns to be brought with you. They scare the wildlife and litter our countryside.
We want to make getting back to nature as painless as possible and at the same time make our camping areas traffic free. We therefore allow, during daylight hours, delivery and collection of your belongings to your pitch by car . At all other times cars will be parked in the conveniently positioned car park. Wheelbarrows are freely available for your use if you need to move your stuff around at other times.
We want to keep the site as natural as possible and therefore request that you do not play amplified music or bongos/drums during your stay.
Due to wildlife considerations we don't accept dogs at the campsite.
